The Post-Sedation Ride Home
Many outpatient procedures involving sedation — colonoscopy, endoscopy, minor surgery — require the patient to be picked up by someone rather than drive themselves. We provide that ride and assist the passenger door-through-door once they're cleared to leave.
One important note: some facilities require that a sedated patient be released specifically to a responsible adult who can stay with them for a period afterward, not just to any driver. Whether that policy applies, and what it requires, depends entirely on the facility performing the procedure. Please confirm the discharge and companion policy with the surgery center or endoscopy suite before your appointment so there are no surprises at pickup.
Pre-Op Appointments and Testing
Before a procedure, most patients need one or more pre-op visits — labs, an EKG, an anesthesia consultation, or a final check-in with the surgeon. We transport patients to these appointments the same way we handle any specialist visit, including wheelchair and mobility assistance where needed.
Post-Op Follow-Up Visits
After the procedure, follow-up visits confirm healing is on track and catch problems early. These trips are often needed while a patient is still recovering, moving more slowly, or temporarily using a wheelchair or walker. Our drivers are trained to move at the passenger's pace and assist with getting in and out of the vehicle safely.
Coordinating with Surgery Centers and Care Teams
Surgery centers, endoscopy suites and their scheduling staff can arrange transportation directly with our dispatch for a patient who doesn't have someone available to drive. We confirm pickup and arrival times so the facility isn't left waiting on a ride to close out a discharge.
