Presence NEMT was built around a simple observation: most of what goes wrong in medical transportation is not driving. It is a passenger left waiting after a discharge is delayed, a power wheelchair that will not fit the vehicle that showed up, a resident dropped at a clinic entrance with no one to walk them in, or a dialysis rider whose return trip never gets confirmed. Those are care-coordination failures, not traffic problems, which is why this company is owned and run by people from a nursing and long-term care background.
The name is deliberate. Presence means someone is actually with the passenger — at the door, down the ramp, into the vehicle, through the building entrance, and back home again. It is the part of the trip that families remember and the part that facilities depend on.
When a Normal NEMT Ride Isn't Enough
When a normal NEMT ride isn't enough, Presence delivers nurse-owned, clinically informed, high-touch transportation for patients who need a higher level of support without requiring emergency ambulance care.
In practice that means stable passengers who need greater coordination, mobility support, specialized positioning, established medical equipment accommodated, companion support, or simply a more clinically aware transport experience than a typical ride service provides. It is a higher level of support — not a lower level of ambulance. We provide no monitoring, treatment or airway management during a trip.

Stephen and Melissa House bring more than 40 years of combined experience in nursing and advanced practice care, and that background includes years of pediatric home-care nursing. That experience shows up in how trips are screened and planned: the questions asked before a vehicle is assigned, the way mobility, positioning and established equipment are discussed, and a willingness to say plainly when a request belongs with EMS instead.

Presence does not imply or represent affiliations, contracts, certifications, payment arrangements or partnerships unless verified, and provides no medical service beyond transportation and the optional companion and escort support described on this site.

Longer trips outside the metroplex are planned individually rather than treated as routine runs, because distance changes what a passenger needs in terms of rest stops, positioning and whether someone should travel along.

What Dispatch Needs From You
No diagnosis or medical history is required to arrange a ride. We only need what affects how we get someone safely from one door to the other.
- Passenger name and a mobile number for whoever should get trip updates
- Pickup address, including the building, unit, wing or room when it applies
- Destination address and the appointment or chair time
- Mobility: ambulatory, manual wheelchair, power wheelchair, scooter, bariatric equipment, or BRODA / Traversa reclined positioning
- Whether the passenger needs door-through-door help, and whether stairs are involved
- One-time trip or a recurring schedule, and whether a return ride is needed
- Whether an optional companion, CNA, MA, or Nurse is being requested

What We Are and What We Are Not
Presence NEMT is a non-emergency medical transportation provider. We transport passengers who are medically stable enough to travel by ground in a seated or reclined position, and our BRODA and Traversa chairs are a stretcher alternative for positioning comfort — not equivalent to an ambulance stretcher.

We also do not provide clinical treatment, medication administration or monitoring during a trip. When a passenger needs medical care en route, an ambulance or specialty transport is the correct service, and we will tell you so plainly rather than take the trip.
